One of Canada’s most powerful women in business: Manjit Minhas

Providing inspiration for young women. This month we have Manjit Minhas, the co-founder and CEO of Minhas Breweries, Distilleries and Wineries. Most known for her appearance on CBC television’s Dragons’ Den, her popularity has grown on the TV show among entrepreneurs who pitch their products and ideas to Canadian business giants who can turn their ideas into success with their help and expertise.

Manjit and her brother Ravinder managed to raise $10,000 to launch their first beer in the province of Alberta. They later acquired the second-oldest brewery in the United States and named it “Minhas Craft Brewery.” As the world’s ninth-largest brewery group, they produce more than 120 beers, spirits, liqueurs, and wines. These are shipped all over Canada, the United States, and 16 foreign countries.

Includes several business industry awards, including “Top Growth Entrepreneur”, Top 100 Women Entrepreneurs in Canada, Canada’s Top 40 under 40, Chatelaine Magazine’s “Top Entrepreneur Woman of The Year 2011”, Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of The Year Prairie Region and The Sikh Centennial Foundation Award 2015.

Her Favourite Beer:
Out of the 90 brands they own, Mountain Crest is her favorite. Having been launched in 2002, this was their first beer brand in Alberta that has enjoyed incredible success throughout the world.
