Schools with No Masks Mandatory

Since the start of COVID-19 in 2020, it is for the first time that Ottawa’s authorities took these relaxing policies concerning making masks not mandatory but optional for students.

Ottawa area schools will offer a highly different but gratifying look both to the parents and students with no strict implementations of the mask.

Most notably, according to new health policies mask is no longer mandatory for students and staff. The school board of Ontario has collectively announced an end to mandatory vaccination policies for students, staff, and workers. All schools agreed to it that no school will institute its policy for its staff.

There are certain rules and regulations which are important for the parents and students to know relating to the new policies introduced by the school.

Masks

Mask is no longer mandatory for students in Ontario in most situations. No board out of four in the Ottawa area has announced any such plan to institute its own masks policy mandatory which means henceforth masks will be optional for the students.

It is also important to know that there are some exceptions like those returning international travel must urgently wear masks under federal requirement travels. They are required to wear masks all-time at different public places which include schools and daycares. They must maintain a list of all those they contact for the first 14 days in Canada and observe and monitor any sort of symptom or sign of COVID-19.

Though provinces recently declined the proposal for the Toronto Catholic District Board School and Toronto district Board concerning delaying in lifting the mandate at schools, keeping this in view it appears that schools board can keep masking policies in place for a while to divert any untold and undesirable situations. However, Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board will continue to implement the previous policy of wearing masks till March 1. While traveling in yellow school buses, wheelchair buses, or vans, the mask is not mandatory. However, using public transit, the students must wear masks. Harmonious seating planes are no longer officially mandatory to follow, though bus drivers can choose any plane for their passengers according to their feasibility and Ottawa Students Transportation Authority which has to ensure home-to-home transportation for students in the Ottawa Catholic School Board and the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board.

OTSA says unvaccinated people no longer required anti-gen testing on regular basis but rapid antigen tests will be made available for those individuals showing symptoms till the end of this school year.

Vaccinations policies

Province has also announced to end vaccinations for the educations workers shortly. No school has any plan of enforcing masks as mandatory for its employee. The Ottawa Carleton School has voted this week to reinstate more than 100 employees who were discharged from their job because they were not vaccinated and to completely end the vaccine policy for the staff as well as for the visitors.
