She’s a small-town girl with big dreams. Stephanie Merkus comes from Parkland County that few of us have ever heard of. Stephanie currently lives in Calgary, Alberta, due to the abundance of opportunities for her music career there. She has been dedicating more time and energy to her music in recent years. Her life has always been filled with music, but she never imagined becoming a songwriter, and it all just happened one day almost by chance. Her experience includes performing on a variety of stages and playing four different instruments. In Calgary, Stephanie plays local bars and pubs, as well as small towns in Alberta. She performed on the Canada Day main stage in her hometown.

Her first song, Single on you, was written three hours after a breakup. After three hours of crying in her room, she realized it was really over. This is her first song, and it’s empowering. There are so many ways in which music connects people, which is why she loves it so much. One day, while playing a gig, some young girl approached and asked if she could sing super bass. The experience was totally unexpected, but she loved every minute of it. Her goal is to connect with people deeper over the next few releases. Recently, as a result of a very difficult heartbreak, she wrote her next song about it. She had the privilege of recording locally here in Canada. Working with songwriters in Nashville has been a blessing for her, and she will be visiting there in the new year.
