How to wash a car at home step by step

Washing your car properly makes it look its best. Whether you’re selling or not, this is an essential step for good maintenance and is necessary to enjoy your ride. Car washing by hand can be a relaxing and rewarding activity. Spending less money on a car wash and being able to pay special attention to especially dirty areas of your vehicle are two benefits of washing your car. You can avoid scratching your car’s paint by hand washing instead of going to a commercial car wash, which uses abrasive materials that may damage it. You can make the best car wash in your driveway by using a hose, soap, cleaning mitts, and water. Decide where to do it. Direct sunlight or direct heat is not the best time to clean your car. The soap will dry, making it impossible to rinse off. Wash your car early in the morning or late in the evening, and avoid doing so near a dusty road or beneath a tree where insects, buds, and leaves can accumulate.

Besides a flat, shady patch of concrete and plenty of water, you’ll also need a hose if you want to hand wash your car. The hose nozzle should be powerful enough to spray the car and allow you to stop the flow of water when you want. By doing so, you won’t need to run water through the entire process. Depending on its size and condition, you should be prepared to spend a couple of hours washing your car. The following steps will ensure your vehicle’s paint is clean and protected, so it doesn’t get marred or scratched during cleaning.

Step:1-Prepare your vehicle for washing:

Be sure your vehicle hasn’t been parked in direct sunlight. In this way, paint is prevented from drying too quickly, resulting in splotches. Likewise, direct sunlight can cause your car to become hot while you wash it, which will result in the water evaporating more quickly. Get everything you will need for the wash close to the car. You will need a few supplies for car washing, including your car wash detergent, water (depending on the size of your vehicle), three buckets (one for washing, one for rinsing), and microfiber towels for drying your car. In addition to two or three wash mitts, you’ll need a large sponge, a stiff scrub brush, and possibly a brush for scrubbing tires.

Get your bucket of water ready. Add the car wash soap in quantity recommended on the bottle. Use this bucket for washing your car. It is also possible to fill two buckets with water and soap if your vehicle is filthy or if you wish to wash your car’s body and its wheel wells. Add plain water to another bucket. You will use this for rinsing. No matter how many buckets you use for washing, you’ll only need one for rinsing.

Step:2-Car-washing:

  • Hose-off the car:

Wash the car to loosen the dirt and soften it. The hose should not blow a strong jet of water onto the paint, as this can rub grit on it and scratch it. It is usually best to point the jet downward as much as possible. Water may drip into the car when aiming upwards if the rubber seal is damaged.

  • Put your focus on the wheels:

If you want your car wheels to be clean, wash them first so that any dirt that rinses off the wheels will not end up on a clean part of your vehicle. When you want to clean your wheel openings, it is advisable to use a long, skinny wheel brush. The wheels of the car should be sprayed with good water pressure provided by the water used for the spray. As you clean the car, it would be a great idea to clean the wheels first, as they are likely to contain the most dirt and debris. Eliminate the remaining road salt from the winter by spraying around the wheel wells and undercarriage to remove brake dust and dirt.

To maintain the wheels’ appearance, it is recommended that they be cleaned with a wheel cleaner formulated for tires – some cleaners are more effective on paints or aluminum than others. The owner’s manual provides you with all the information you need concerning your vehicle. When choosing a product, it is essential to select the right one so that your wheels will not suffer damage. It would help if you didn’t use the mitt or chamois on the rest of the car after cleaning the wheels, or you’ll scratch the paint.

  • Get a big wash mitt to wash your car:

Clean your car with a large wash mitt or sponge dipped in soapy water, ensuring all dirt is removed. If you use a brush, it may leave minor scratches on the car’s body.

  • Start washing the car from the top down:

Wash the lower portions of the car several times, circling it several times. From the top-down, you will see soap dripping over lower sections of the car as you wash higher sections. This will save you time and energy washing the same parts of the car twice.

  • Clean off bird droppings or bug splatters:

Most dirt and grime are easy to remove, but bird droppings and bug splatters are more difficult. Moreover, if you’re not careful when scrubbing them off, they may damage the paint. Using a sponge soaked in warm water, dab bugs with the water and scrub them off.

  • Rinse each section after washing it:

Rinse an area with the hose after being washed before moving on. To avoid staining your paint with soap, do not let it dry on it. As you wash sections of your car, follow the same top-to-bottom pattern you used for rinsing them.

  • Leave the lower body of the car for last:

Last, scrub the lower body and the wheels, the dirtiest and grittiest. [9] It’s good to use a separate sponge or wash mitt on the bottom since this part of the car will likely become soiled. With a sponge or wash mitt alone, you may not be able to clean gritty or dirty tires. Using a plastic brush with stiff bristles, tire sidewall dirt can be removed.

  • Pour water over the underside of the car:

When you’ve washed most of the surface of your car, spray the bottom of the car from various angles with your hose. Using the hose as you move from one section to the next will keep the car wet. Water droplets won’t be able to dry on the paint and leave water spots. You must be able to dry the car with towels before letting it air-dry.

Step:3-Car drying and waxing:

If you want to prevent rust from forming on your vehicle, don’t be afraid to use a lot of towels to dry it. You should also wipe down all surfaces that have already been cleaned. Water should not be left on a drained vehicle after it has dried, as this can cause rust or tarnish the paint. Ensure that your car is clean and dry before applying wax. Waxing your vehicle more than once may be needed: failed water beads (or small pools of water) after washing indicate the need to wax again. It’s rarely necessary to use abrasive polishes on modern car paints, as they cause unexpected damage to the clear coat.

  • Make the windows water-repellent:

Water will be repelled from clean, dry glass using RainX or similar water-repellent treatments. Repeat the application as necessary after small beads have formed. Every few months, clean the side and back windows as desired, and the windshield every month or so, where it will be most necessary and rubbed off by the wipers.
